The History
::
Lost Weekend Records held its first show in the Spring of
2003, with the Alwood Sisters. We've since hosted
several free
'in-store' music shows
to show our gratitude to our customers. Sometimes we have a
live performer or two,
and other times we have what we like to call a
"Hootenanny".
These shows feature a large number of performers and stretch
throughout the afternoon.
One of our
favorite evenings was our Halloween show with Apocalypso at
our old store. The show garnered quite a crowd, with lots of
people in full Halloween regalia! This night was also an
opening night event for local poster artist extraordinaire
Ray Ray. (Who also gets credit for the giant sign out in
front of the store. Thanks, Ray Ray!)
Actually, it's
hard to pick an absolute favorite!! We've had a lot of good
times in the 4 years we've been open - The Young Republic, a
9 piece from Boston. Rob McNurlin. The Matts (Munhall &
Beckler). The Hootenannies are always a great time - at the
last one, Sam Brown's very young son Garvey had the
audience captivated when he hopped on the mic and told a
bunch of impromptu jokes & stories.
While we
usually play host to local Columbus bands and musicians, we
have also had the opportunity to host a couple of national
acts, including Rhode Island blues woman
Marjorie Thompson and
Ashland, Kentucky's own
Rob McNurlin & His Beatnik Cowboys. Photo
